The Siemens 5SL3316-6 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker — 3-pole, B-curve, rated 16 A at 400 V AC. It breaks 4.5 kA per EN 60898 and 5 kA per IEC 60947-2, covering residential and light commercial infrastructure panels. The B characteristic means it trips between 3 and 5 times rated current, suited for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is modest — lighting, socket circuits, control transformers. Three modular width units (54 mm) on the DIN rail, depth 76 mm, installable in any orientation.
Thermal derating and ambient range
Full 16 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient. At 40 °C it derates to 15.23 A, at 45 °C to 14.88 A, and at 55 °C to 13.99 A. The operating ambient range spans -40 °C to 75 °C, with storage exceeding that — the thermal curve governs continuous load, not just survival. Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2, energy limitation class 3. Mechanical service life 10 000 switching cycles typical.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rail, any position. Three modular width units (54 mm total) with 70 mm installation depth behind the panel surface. IP20 with connected conductors — suitable for enclosed distribution boards, not for wet or washdown environments. Sealable, halogen-free, silicon-free construction. Terminal design accommodates the usual 0.2–2.5 mm² solid or stranded copper.
