Siemens 5SL3616-6 SENTRON MCB — 16 A, B-Curve, 4-Pole, 4.5 kA
The Siemens 5SL3616-6 is a SENTRON 5SL-series miniature circuit breaker rated at 16 A with a B tripping characteristic, designed for 400 V AC nominal supply voltage in 3P+N (4-pole) configuration.
The 4.5 kA breaking capacity (per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2) tells you the MCB can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level at 400 V AC. If the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point exceeds 4.5 kA, this breaker won't clear the fault within its rated limits — you'd need a higher interrupting rating (e.g., 6 kA or 10 kA) from the 5SL family. The B characteristic means the magnetic trip activates between 3 and 5 times the rated current (48–80 A for this 16 A unit), which is fine for resistive and general loads but too sensitive for motor starting surges. That matters in TN or TT systems where you want the neutral opened and closed with the phases. Terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 25 mm², with a tightening torque range of 2.5 to 3 N·m. That covers most distribution cable sizes up to 4 mm² for final circuits and 10–16 mm² for sub-mains.
Installation depth is 70 mm (the depth dimension of 76 mm includes the actuator and terminals), which fits standard 100 mm deep distribution boards with room for wiring.
