1-pole D-curve MCB for high-inrush loads
The Siemens SENTRON 5SL4110-8CC is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping characteristic, rated 10 A at 400 V AC and interrupting 10 kA per EN 60898. The D-curve means it tolerates the high inrush currents typical of motor starters, small transformers, and solenoid valve banks — the magnetic trip threshold is 10 to 20 times the rated current, so nuisance tripping on startup is rare. It occupies a single 18 mm modular width unit on the DIN rail, leaving room in the panel for other branch circuits.
Ratings that decide the fit
Breaking capacity is 10 kA at 400 V AC per EN 60898 — this is the standard for residential and light commercial distribution boards. The breaker is rated for single-phase operation up to 250 V AC and multi-phase up to 440 V AC. Power loss per pole is 0.9 W in hot operating state; in a densely packed enclosure, that low dissipation keeps the internal temperature rise manageable. The operating temperature range spans -40 °C to 75 °C, which covers unheated utility rooms and outdoor-adjacent cabinets. Vibration resistance is 50 m/s² over 25 to 150 Hz per IEC 60068-2-6, adequate for installation near light industrial machinery.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on standard 35 mm DIN rail in any position. Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm, so it fits flush in a 100 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring behind the busbar. The IP20 rating with connected conductors means the terminals are finger-safe once the circuit is wired — standard for distribution boards. Supplementary devices (auxiliary switches, shunt trips, alarm contacts) can be snapped onto the right side without additional DIN space. The housing is halogen-free and silicon-free, which matters for panels in clean rooms or areas with sensitive electronics.
