The Siemens 5SL4115-8 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a D tripping characteristic, rated 1.6 A at 400 V AC. It breaks fault currents up to 10 kA per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, covering residential and infrastructure branch circuits where inrush from small transformers or motor starters would nuisance-trip a C-curve. The single-pole (1P) format snaps onto a standard DIN rail and occupies one modular width unit (18 mm).
D-curve tripping and temperature derating
The D characteristic means the magnetic trip fires at 10–20× In (16–32 A), so it holds through the high inrush of small power supplies, solenoid valves, or lighting ballasts without nuisance opening. Thermal derating is published: 1.6 A at 30 °C, 1.54 A at 40 °C, 1.5 A at 45 °C, and 1.43 A at 55 °C — factor that into the load calculation if the panel runs warm.
Panel fit and environmental limits
Mounts in any position on a DIN rail; depth is 76 mm, height 90 mm, width 18 mm (one modular unit). Installation depth is 70 mm, so it clears standard enclosure back-panels. Rated for overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2, and ambient temperature from -40 °C to 75 °C. The housing is halogen-free and silicon-free, and the terminals are touch-protected with connected conductors.
