What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SL4116-7RC is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a C-curve tripping characteristic, rated 16 A at 30 °C and 240/415 V AC. Its 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 means it safely interrupts short-circuit faults up to that level in residential and light-commercial distribution boards. The C-curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current, so it handles moderate inrush from motor starters or transformers without nuisance tripping, while still protecting branch wiring.
Panel fit and mounting
At 18 mm wide (1 modular unit), this MCB snaps onto standard DIN rail and occupies one slot in a distribution board. Depth of 76 mm and height of 90 mm leave clearance for gland plates and cover panels. Mounting position is any — vertical, horizontal, or inverted — which simplifies layout in tight enclosures. IP20 with connected conductors means the terminals are finger-safe once wired, but the breaker itself is not sealed against dust ingress — install inside a rated enclosure.
