The Siemens 5SL4205-8 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON series, rated 0.5 A with a D tripping characteristic. It breaks 10 kA at 400 V AC per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, making it suitable for protecting high-inrush loads like small motors or transformers in residential and infrastructure panels.
Tripping curve and load fit
The D characteristic means this breaker tolerates short-duration inrush up to 10–14 times rated current before tripping magnetically. At 0.5 A rated, it's a fine-current branch protection; the 10 kA SCCR at 400 V AC ensures it safely clears a fault up to that level without upstream coordination issues in a standard distribution board.
Depth is 76 mm, installed depth 70 mm. Mounting position is unrestricted.
Current derating applies above 30 °C: 0.47 A at 40 °C, 0.46 A at 45 °C, 0.43 A at 55 °C (–). Halogen-free and silicon-free construction. Sealable for tamper-proof installations. Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2.
