Siemens 5SL4206-8CC — 2-pole D-curve MCB for high-inrush loads
The Siemens 5SL4206-8CC is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 6 A at 400 V AC with a D tripping characteristic and 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898. Two poles, 36 mm wide (2 module widths), and rated for residential and infrastructure panelboards.
That's the standard domestic and light-commercial SCCR for EN 60898 devices — adequate for most sub-distribution boards fed by a transformer with limited fault current. The D-curve trips magnetically between 10× and 20× In (60–120 A instantaneous), so it's sized for loads with a high first-cycle draw. Terminals accept solid or stranded copper from 0.75 to 25 mm², torqued to 2.5–3 N·m. That 25 mm² top end lets you feed through a larger incoming conductor and daisy-chain downstream breakers — common in sub-panel designs. The 70 mm installation depth (76 mm overall) fits standard distribution boards with no projection beyond the DIN rail.
IP20 with conductors connected — finger-safe terminals but not washdown-rated; keep it inside the enclosure. The sealable cover (padlockable handle) lets you lock the breaker in the OFF position for lockout/tagout, which is a practical feature for maintenance isolation on a dedicated motor circuit.
