What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SL4306-7RC is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 6 A with a C tripping characteristic and a 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 at 415 V AC. That 10 kA figure is the maximum prospective fault current it can safely interrupt — enough for most residential and light commercial distribution boards where the upstream transformer impedance keeps the short-circuit level below that threshold. The C-curve (magnetic trip between 5 and 10 times In) means it tolerates moderate inrush without nuisance tripping, so it suits mixed loads with some motor or capacitive start-up current. It occupies a single modular width unit (18 mm) on standard DIN rail, with a depth of 76 mm and an installation depth of 70 mm. The IP20 rating (with connected conductors) is typical for enclosed distribution boards — no special sealing needed inside the panel.
Integration notes
Mounts in any position on a standard DIN rail. The sealable design allows the installer to lock the toggle position after commissioning — useful for tamper-proofing in shared-access panels. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction reduces corrosive off-gassing risk in enclosed spaces. Supplementary devices (auxiliary switches, shunt trips, undervoltage releases) can be added on the right side via the product extension feature.
Environmental range
Rated for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +75 °C, which covers unheated enclosures in cold climates and hot switchrooms. The power loss per pole at rated current in hot state is 0.86 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a populated board. Mechanical service life is 10 000 operating cycles typical.
