What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SL4310-6 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) — a 3-pole, B-curve unit rated for 10 A at 400 V AC, with a 10 kA breaking capacity certified to both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2. The B-curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current, making it the standard choice for resistive and general-purpose loads in residential and light commercial distribution boards — not for motor-starting inrush, where a C or D curve would be specified. The 10 kA SCCR means it safely interrupts a fault up to that level without upstream coordination failure, which is the typical requirement for a sub-distribution board fed from a larger transformer.
Panel fit and integration
Occupies 3 modular width units (54 mm) on a DIN rail, with a depth of 76 mm and an installation depth of 70 mm — standard for a 3-pole MCB in a SENTRON distribution board. IP20 with connected conductors, so it's intended for enclosed panel mounting, not washdown or outdoor exposure. Sealable design allows the installer to lock the toggle position after commissioning. Mounting position is any, which simplifies layout in tight enclosures.
Environmental and compliance
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction, rated for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to 75 °C, with a degree of pollution 2 and overvoltage category III — suitable for fixed installations in residential and infrastructure applications. Supplementary devices (auxiliary switches, shunt trips, alarm contacts) can be installed on the side, which is useful for remote status monitoring or emergency shutdown circuits.
