D-curve 63 A MCB for high-inrush loads
The Siemens SENTRON 5SL4363-8CC is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 63 A with a D tripping characteristic, designed to handle the high inrush currents typical of motor, transformer, and lighting ballast circuits without nuisance tripping. Its 10 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC (per EN 60898) means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level in residential and infrastructure distribution boards.
The D-curve (10–20× In magnetic trip) is the deciding spec here: it delays tripping on the short-duration current spikes a motor or power supply draws at startup, so the breaker stays closed during normal inrush. The 63 A continuous rating and 10 kA SCCR at 400 V AC govern the feeder size and the upstream fault capacity the panel must coordinate with. At 72 V DC the breaker is also rated, though the DC breaking capacity is not separately stated — treat the AC 10 kA figure as the primary coordination value. The 440 V maximum for multi-phase operation gives headroom on 400 V line-to-line systems.
Panel integration and environmental limits
The 70 mm installation depth and 76 mm overall depth fit standard distribution boards; the IP20 rating with connected conductors means the busbar area is finger-safe once wired. Operating range spans -40 °C to +75 °C, with derating above 55 °C and 95% humidity — sufficient for unheated electrical rooms or outdoor-rated enclosures. Vibration resistance to 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz (IEC 60068-2-6) suits installation near rotating machinery.
