What this MCB does and where it fits
The Siemens 5SL4415-8 is a 4-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON 5SL4 series, rated at 1.6 A with a D tripping characteristic. That D-curve means it tolerates short-duration inrush currents up to 10–20× rated — designed for loads like small motors, transformers, or solenoid banks where the start-up surge would nuisance-trip a B or C curve. The 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 tells you it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without welding contacts or cascading upstream. Rated 400 V AC for multi-phase operation, with a maximum of 440 V AC. This breaker snaps onto a standard DIN rail (72 mm wide, 4 width units) and mounts in any position. The IP20 rating with connected conductors is typical for enclosed distribution boards — it's not meant for wet or dusty environments. Ambient temperature range of -25 to +55 °C covers most indoor panel conditions. Terminal capacity accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 25 mm², with a tightening torque of 2.5 to 3 N·m.
