What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL4525-7 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a 1P+N pole design — one protected pole and a switched neutral — rated for 230 V AC single-phase circuits. It carries a C tripping characteristic (magnetic release between 5 and 10 times In) and a 25 A thermal rating, so it handles general-purpose branch circuits with moderate inrush from small motors, lighting banks, or transformers without nuisance tripping. Breaking capacity is 10 kA per both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, meaning it can safely interrupt a fault current up to 10,000 A at its rated voltage. That covers the majority of residential, commercial, and light-industrial distribution boards where the prospective short-circuit current stays under that threshold. Energy limitation class 3 keeps the let-through energy low enough to protect downstream wiring and loads.
Panel fit and integration
The 5SL4525-7 occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm) on a DIN rail, with a depth of 76 mm and an installation depth of 70 mm. Mounting position is unrestricted — horizontal, vertical, or flat — which simplifies layout in tight enclosures. The IP20 rating (with connected conductors) is standard for distribution boards; no washdown or outdoor rating, so keep it inside a sealed panel. It accepts supplementary devices (auxiliary switches, shunt trips, alarm contacts) via the product extension interface, and the sealable design allows the installer to lock the toggle position after commissioning — useful for panels that require tamper-proof settings per site safety rules.
