What the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 5SL4615-8 is a SENTRON 5SL4 miniature circuit breaker — 4-pole (3P+N), D tripping curve, rated 1.6 A at 400 V AC. The D characteristic means it tolerates short-duration inrush currents 10–20× rated before tripping, so it's sized for motor or transformer branch circuits where the start-up spike would nuisance-trip a B or C curve. The 10 kA breaking capacity (EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2) is the standard domestic and light-commercial fault level; it interrupts a bolted short-circuit up to 10 kA without welding the contacts or cascading the fault upstream. The neutral pole switches with the phases (3P+N), which is required in some regional wiring codes to ensure the neutral is not left floating when the breaker is off.
Panel integration notes
The 5SL4615-8 snaps onto standard DIN rail (EN 60715). It occupies 4 width units (72 mm) and requires 70 mm installation depth behind the panel surface; the overall depth is 76 mm including the front projection. Terminal capacity accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 25 mm². The enclosure is IP20 with conductors connected — suitable for dry indoor panels, not for washdown or outdoor exposure. Ambient temperature range is -25 to +55 °C, with derating above 40 °C per the thermal curve. The breaker is sealable for tamper-proof installations. Mounting position is any orientation.
