The Siemens 5SL4620-6 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 20 A with a B tripping characteristic, 3-pole plus neutral (3P+N), designed for 400 V AC multi-phase circuits. The B curve (3-5 In instantaneous trip) suits cable protection in residential and infrastructure runs where inrush from lighting or small transformers is modest. At 20 A it covers 2.5 mm² copper circuits in standard IEC installations. DC-rated maximum is 72 V, so it can also serve as a DC branch protector in control panels where the supply is rectified.
How the ratings govern real-world use
That means the same part can be specified for a house distribution board or a factory sub-panel without re-rating — a single BOM line covers both. Power loss is 2.5 W per pole in hot operating state at rated current. Not a frequent-switching device — this is set-and-forget overcurrent protection, not a contactor for motor cycling.
For BOM freeze or compliance documentation, the part carries the standard Siemens declarations (CE, UKCA, EAC) for the 5SL family. RoHS and REACH compliance is standard for current SENTRON production.
