Siemens 5SL6108-7BB — 8 A C-curve MCB for residential and infrastructure panels
The Siemens 5SL6108-7BB is a single-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON 5SL6 family, rated 8 A with a C-curve trip characteristic. It breaks fault currents up to 6 kA at 400 V AC. The C-curve means the magnetic trip fires between 5× and 10× In (40–80 A), which suits mixed resistive and moderate inductive loads — lighting, socket circuits, small appliances — where inrush isn't severe enough to nuisance-trip a B-curve but isn't as sustained as the D-curve motor-start profile.
Mounting and wiring — 18 mm per pole, screw terminals rated to 25 mm²
Width is 18 mm (one modular unit), so this breaker occupies a single slot on a standard DIN-rail distribution board. Depth of 76 mm and installation depth of 70 mm keep it within the envelope of a typical consumer unit or sub-distribution panel. Screw terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 mm² up to 25 mm². Tightening torque is 2.5–3 N·m — a standard value for this class, so no special tooling needed on the panel line. Terminal design includes touch protection per the product feature. The breaker is sealable, halogen-free, and silicon-free — relevant for installations with sensitive contacts or where environmental compliance documentation is required downstream.
Operating conditions and approvals
Ambient temperature range is –25 to +45 °C during operation, with storage from –40 to +75 °C. The enclosure is rated IP20 with connected conductors — suitable for dry indoor panels, not for washdown or outdoor exposure. Overvoltage category 3 and energy limiting class 3 confirm it coordinates with standard upstream protective devices. Rated for 50 Hz AC supply, with a maximum operating voltage of 440 V in multi-phase configuration. The single-pole design does not switch the neutral conductor.
