What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SL6150-7RC is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) rated 50 A with a C tripping characteristic, designed for overcurrent and short-circuit protection in residential and infrastructure AC circuits up to 415 V. The C-curve means it trips at 5 to 10 times rated current — standard for inductive loads like small motors and lighting banks where inrush is moderate. Breaking capacity is 7.5 kA per EN 60898, sufficient for most domestic and light commercial sub-distribution boards. Single-pole format means it protects one phase only; for three-phase circuits you'd stack three units or move to a 3-pole variant like the 5SL4363-7. At 18 mm width (one modular unit), it snaps onto standard DIN rail and leaves room for adjacent breakers or accessories.
Where it fits in the panel
Mounts in any position on DIN rail — no orientation restrictions. Depth of 76 mm and installation depth of 70 mm mean it clears most standard enclosures without forcing a deeper gland plate. IP20 with conductors connected; fine for enclosed distribution boards, not for wet or dusty environments without a higher-rated enclosure around it. Sealable design allows tamper-proof locking for metering or rental applications. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction matters for sensitive environments like clean rooms or telecom shelters where outgassing can't be tolerated.
