What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL6150-8CC is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a D tripping characteristic, rated at 50 A for 230/400 V AC systems. Its 6 kA breaking capacity covers most commercial and light industrial final-subdistribution panels where the prospective short-circuit current stays below that threshold. The D-curve (10–20× In magnetic trip) is sized for loads with high inrush — motor starters, small transformers, discharge lighting — where a B or C curve would nuisance-trip on startup.
Where it fits in the panel
The 1-pole form factor snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail inside a distribution board or sub-panel. At 50 A on a D-curve, it is a heavy branch-circuit protector — expect 10 mm² or 16 mm² incoming copper, so leave adequate bending space below the device. The 6 kA SCCR coordinates with most upstream 63 A or 100 A main switches; verify the let-through energy (I²t) against the downstream equipment if feeding sensitive electronics.
