What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 5SL6206-6RC is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker rated 6 A at 415 V AC with a B tripping characteristic and a 7.5 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898. The B curve means it trips at 3–5× rated current — designed for resistive and general-purpose loads in residential and light commercial sub-distribution boards, not for motor starting or high-inrush circuits where a C or D curve would be needed to avoid nuisance tripping. The 7.5 kA interrupting rating tells you it can safely clear a fault up to that level without upstream damage; if your available fault current exceeds that, you need a higher-rated breaker upstream. The 2-pole configuration switches both line and neutral, suitable for single-phase circuits where the neutral requires overcurrent protection or for two-phase loads.
Panel integration and mounting
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail. Occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm total width). The 76 mm depth and 90 mm height fit standard distribution board enclosures; installation depth is 70 mm, so account for that behind the DIN rail. Mounting position is any — no derating needed for horizontal or inverted orientation. IP20 with connected conductors means it's protected against finger contact but not sealed against moisture; keep it inside a closed panel or enclosure. Sealable — you can lock the toggle position with a seal to prevent unauthorized switching.
Environmental and compliance notes
Rated for ambient temperature from -40 °C to 75 °C, covering most indoor and outdoor enclosure conditions. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction — no risk of corrosive off-gassing in sealed panels or near sensitive contacts. Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2 — suitable for fixed installations in building distribution. Mechanical service life 10 000 switching cycles typical.
