Key ratings and what they mean for fit
The 5SL6210-8CC: The 10 A rating is at 30 °C ambient. Up at 40 °C you get 9.43 A, at 50 °C it's 8.82 A — the standard thermal derating curve for a 30 °C reference. If this breaker lives in a hot panel or near other heat sources, size for the actual ambient, not the catalog number. The 6 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC is the IEC 60898 figure; that covers most commercial and light industrial fault levels. Overvoltage category III and pollution degree 2 put it in fixed-installation distribution boards, not portable gear. It snaps onto a DIN rail — 36 mm wide (2 modular width units), 76 mm deep, 90 mm tall. The 70 mm installation depth means it clears most standard enclosures. IP20 with conductors connected is the norm for a panel-mount MCB; no washdown rating, so keep it inside the cabinet. Vibration resistance of 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz per IEC 60068-2-6 means it holds up on machinery or in transport applications without rattling the contacts. Mounting position is any — no derating for horizontal or upside-down install. Touch protection is built in (the terminals are shrouded when wired). Halogen-free and silicon-free construction matters if the panel is in a clean room or near sensitive optics. Sealable option lets you lock the handle position for lockout/tagout.
Where it goes
Siemens lists suitability for residential buildings and infrastructure — think distribution boards in apartment complexes, commercial light and power, or building services. The D-curve and 2-pole format also fit motor branch circuits in small HVAC or pump panels, where the 10 A rating protects a fractional-hp motor and the magnetic trip handles the start transient without false trips.
Sourcing and lifecycle reality
This is a current-production part — no phase-out notice, no last-time-buy window. The SENTRON 5SL series is Siemens' standard residential and light-commercial MCB line, widely stocked through distribution. For a BOM line or a line-down replacement, it's a straightforward quote item. Availability and current pricing are confirmed when you RFQ; no supply-chain gymnastics needed.
