What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL6250-6 is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON 5SL series, with a B-curve tripping characteristic rated at 50 A at 400 V AC. It breaks fault currents up to 6 kA per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, which covers the majority of residential and light commercial distribution boards. The B-curve means it trips between 3 and 5 times rated current — suited for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is modest, not for motor or transformer starting.
Mounting and panel fit
Snaps onto standard DIN rail in any mounting position. At 36 mm wide (2 modular units), it takes two 18 mm slots in a distribution board. Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm — leaves clearance behind the DIN rail for wiring. IP20 with conductors connected, so it lives inside a closed panel or enclosure, not exposed to washdown.
Thermal derating and environment
Rated 50 A at 30 °C ambient. At 40 °C it carries 46.97 A; at 55 °C it carries 42.01 A. If the panel runs hot, factor that derating into the branch-circuit load. Ambient range is -40 °C to 75 °C, with periodic humidity up to 95% at 55 °C. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction — matters for sensitive environments like medical or semiconductor support areas.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Current production — no end-of-life notice on this order code. The 5SL6250-6 is sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution; availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time. If you are filling a BOM line or stocking a spare, this is a standard SKU, not a phase-out risk.
