What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 5SL6263-6RC is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated 63 A at 415 V AC, 2-pole, with a B tripping characteristic. The B curve means it trips at 3 to 5 times rated current — suited for resistive or lighting loads where inrush is low, not for motor starting where a C or D curve would be needed to avoid nuisance trips. The 7.5 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 tells you it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level at the rated voltage; if your available fault current at the panel exceeds 7.5 kA, you need a higher-rated breaker upstream. Two poles (2P) on a 36 mm width (2 width units) means it occupies two adjacent DIN-rail slots in the enclosure. The 76 mm depth plus 70 mm installation depth leaves clearance behind the rail — standard for a 5SL6 family MCB. Mounting position is any, so vertical or horizontal panel orientation is fine, but ambient temperature must stay between -25 and +45 °C; above that, derate the continuous current. Wire range accepts 0.75 to 25 mm² solid or stranded, with a tightening torque of 2.5 to 3 N·m on the screw terminals. That covers most panel wiring from 1.5 mm² control circuits up to 25 mm² feeder tails. The terminals are touch-protected, and the breaker is sealable — useful for installations that require tamper-evident sealing after commissioning.
Where it is used
This MCB is designed for residential and infrastructure installations per EN 60898. It protects branch circuits in distribution boards, lighting panels, and small commercial sub-panels where the load is predominantly resistive or lighting with low inrush. The 63 A rating and 2-pole configuration suit single-phase or two-phase circuits up to 415 V AC.
