What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL6310-7BB is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) — 3-pole, C-curve, rated 10 A at 400 V AC, with a 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2. That C-curve means it trips between 5 and 10 times rated current, so it's the go-to for general-purpose loads like lighting, socket circuits, and small motor starters where you need moderate inrush tolerance without sacrificing fault protection.
Temperature derating — what the numbers mean
At 30 °C ambient the breaker holds its full 10 A rating. At 40 °C it's down to 9.24 A, at 45 °C to 8.8 A, and at 55 °C to 7.96 A. If your panel runs hot — say inside a non-climate-controlled enclosure near a furnace line — you need to size up one frame or accept the derated continuous current. The mechanical life is 10 000 switching cycles typical, which is fine for most distribution panels but not for daily switching duty.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto standard DIN rail, any mounting position. It takes 3 modular width units (each 18 mm, so 54 mm total). Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm — verify your enclosure depth if you're retrofitting into a shallow gland box. IP20 with connected conductors, so it's for enclosed panels only, not washdown areas. Pollution degree 2, overvoltage category III — standard for fixed-installation distribution boards.
