What this MCB does — and what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 5SL6313-6 is a 3-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker with a B tripping curve, rated 13 A at 30 °C and 12.37 A at 40 °C. The B-curve means it trips magnetically at 3–5× rated current — fast enough for short-circuit protection of resistive and small inductive loads, but without the nuisance tripping that a C-curve could cause on inrush. That 13 A at 30 °C is the headline number, but if your enclosure runs at 40 °C the effective rating drops to 12.37 A; at 55 °C it's 11.36 A. Plan your load margin accordingly. Breaking capacity is 6 kA per both IEC 60898 and IEC 60947-2 — the same figure under both standards, so no confusion between residential and industrial coordination tables. At 400 V AC phase-to-phase (440 V max) it clears a fault up to that level without cascading upstream. Overvoltage category III and pollution degree 2 confirm it's rated for fixed-installation distribution panels, not just final circuits.
Sizing and derating — the temp curve matters
The 5SL6313-6 carries a full derating table: 13 A at 30 °C, 12.37 A at 40 °C, 11.96 A at 45 °C, 11.36 A at 55 °C. If your panel is in a hot mechanical room or a nacelle that sees 55 °C ambient, you lose about 1.6 A off the headline rating. That's a real margin call — size the upstream protection and downstream load with the hot rating, not the 30 °C sticker.
DIN-rail fit and enclosure integration
Three modular width units (54 mm wide), 76 mm deep, 90 mm tall, installation depth 70 mm. Mounts in any position — vertical, horizontal, flat — which helps when you're packing a tight sub-panel. IP20 with connected conductors, so it's for enclosed distribution boards, not wet locations. Sealable and touch-protected per the product feature list.
Where this MCB belongs — residential and infrastructure
Suitability for operation is listed as residential buildings and infrastructure. That matches the B-curve and 6 kA rating — typical for final distribution in apartment blocks, lighting panels, HVAC sub-panels, and light commercial. Not a motor-protection breaker (no thermal-magnetic curve tuned for motor inrush), but fine for general branch-circuit protection.
