Electrical characteristics and thermal behaviour
Operates on 400 V AC three-phase (max 440 V multi-phase) at 50/60 Hz. DC rating is 72 V maximum, so it can also serve DC circuits within that limit. Each pole dissipates 5.1 W at rated current in hot operating state — for a 4-pole unit that's 20.4 W total heat to vent inside the enclosure. The C-curve is the most common choice for general-purpose branch circuits — it avoids nuisance tripping on moderate inrush while still clearing faults fast.
Production status is active per the manufacturer. No end-of-life notice or successor part has been issued — this is the current catalog number for a 4-pole 40 A C-curve MCB in the SENTRON 5SL series.
