The Siemens 5SL6508-7 is a SENTRON 5SL6 miniature circuit breaker — a 2-pole (1P+N) unit rated 8 A with a C tripping characteristic, designed for final-circuit overcurrent protection in residential and light commercial infrastructure. Its 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 means it can safely interrupt a short-circuit fault up to that level on a 230/250 V AC supply, which covers the typical fault-current range in domestic distribution boards and small commercial panels.
Snaps onto standard DIN rail — 36 mm wide (2 width units), 90 mm tall, 76 mm deep with an installation depth of 70 mm. Mounting position is unrestricted, so it works in vertical, horizontal, or inverted orientation inside the enclosure. Terminals accept solid or stranded copper from 0.75 mm² up to 25 mm², with a tightening torque range of 2.5 to 3 N·m. The 1P+N arrangement switches the neutral conductor as well as the phase, which is required in some regional wiring codes for single-phase final circuits. Sealable (provision for a lead seal or lock) to prevent unauthorized reset after an isolation event.
Environment and compliance
Rated for ambient temperatures from -25 °C to +45 °C, with periodic exposure up to +55 °C and 95 % humidity. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction reduces corrosive outgassing in sealed enclosures. Overvoltage category 3 (distribution-level surge withstand) and energy limiting class 3 (fast arc quenching that limits let-through energy).
