What the ratings mean for fit
The 5SL6520-8CC is a 1+N-pole miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping curve, rated 20 A at 230 V AC and a 6 kA breaking capacity. The D characteristic means it tolerates inrush currents 10–20 times the rated current — the right choice for motor, transformer, or lighting ballast loads where the startup surge would nuisance-trip a B or C curve breaker. The 6 kA interrupting rating at 230 V is sufficient for most residential and light commercial distribution boards; verify the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation stays under that figure.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on standard DIN rail in a distribution board or sub-panel. The 1+N-pole format switches both phase and neutral, with the neutral pole switching but not protecting — common for single-phase final sub-circuits where you want a single-module width. The D curve holds through motor start transients; if the load is purely resistive (heaters, incandescent lighting), a B or C curve would trip faster on fault but may nuisance-trip on the inrush of a large capacitive load.
