What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SL6532-6YA is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a 1-pole+N design — it switches the live conductor and also breaks the neutral, which is required for single-phase final subcircuits in residential and light commercial distribution boards. Rated 32 A at 30 °C with a B tripping characteristic, it protects against overload and short-circuit up to 6 kA per EN 60898. The B curve means it trips at 3 to 5 times rated current, so it is sized for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is low — lighting, socket outlets, small appliances.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 32 A rating at 30 °C is the headline figure, but the derating curve matters: at 40 °C the breaker is rated 0.95 A (likely a data-entry anomaly for a 32 A device — the 45 °C figure of 29.44 A is the realistic derated value for this frame). If your panel ambient runs above 40 °C, expect to down-rate the circuit or step to a higher ampacity frame. The 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers most domestic and light commercial fault levels; for industrial installations with higher prospective short-circuit current, you would need the IEC 60947-2 rating (not listed for this variant). Overvoltage category III and pollution degree 2 confirm it is rated for fixed-installation distribution boards, not for outdoor or wet locations.
Panel integration and mounting
Occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm) on a DIN rail. Installation depth is 70 mm, overall depth 76 mm — check gland-plate clearance if the enclosure is shallow. Mounting position is unrestricted, so it can be installed horizontally or upside-down without derating. The breaker is sealable (provision for a lead seal or lockout tag) and halogen-free / silicon-free, which matters for panels in clean-room or corrosive environments. IP20 with the distribution-board cover fitted — no touch protection on the terminals themselves, so the cover must be in place for live-work safety.
