The Siemens Betagard 5SL7116-7RC is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker with a C-curve trip characteristic, rated 16 A. It carries a 15 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and 20 kA per IEC 60947-2, making it suitable for industrial branch-circuit protection where higher fault currents are expected than residential-grade MCBs handle. Rated for single-phase operation at 240 V AC and multi-phase at 440 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
Breaking capacity and trip curve
The 15 kA rating under EN 60898 is the standard for final circuits in buildings; the 20 kA under IEC 60947-2 covers industrial panel applications where the prospective short-circuit current is higher. The C-curve (5–10× In) is the default for general-purpose loads — lighting, small motor circuits, control transformers — where inrush is moderate. That figure matters for thermal coordination inside a crowded enclosure — 1.7 W per pole is low enough that derating is minimal in a standard 20 °C ambient.
Dimensions: 90 mm high, 76 mm deep, 18 mm wide — fits a standard 1 MW DIN-rail slot. Installation depth is 70 mm, leaving 6 mm behind the rail for wiring clearance. Sealable with a lead seal or adhesive label to prevent tamper — common for utility-metering or tenant-submetering applications. Vibration-resistant per IEC 60068-2-6; mechanical life is 10 000 operating cycles typical.
