RCCB for standard AC residual-current protection
The Siemens 5SM1314-0 is a 2-pole SENTRON residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated 40 A at 230 V AC, with a 30 mA tripping threshold for Type AC fault currents. The 30 mA trip level provides supplementary protection against electric shock (finger and back-of-hand safe per the evidence,). Mounts on DIN rail (REG profile,) and occupies 2 width units with a 55 mm installation depth. This flexibility simplifies panel layout when integrating into existing SENTRON sub-distribution boards.
Thermal derating and short-circuit coordination
Rated current holds at 40 A up to 45 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 38.4 A at 50 °C, 36.8 A at 55 °C, 35.2 A at 60 °C, 33.6 A at 65 °C, and 32 A at 70 °C. Short-circuit current rating (SCCR) is 10 kA, with a let-through current of 7,500 A and an I²t value of 70,000 A²·s. For coordination with an upstream MCB, the conditional rating per EN 60898 is 0.5 kA, and per IEC 61008-1 also 0.5 kA. This means the RCCB relies on the upstream protective device to limit fault energy below its withstand — verify the upstream breaker's let-through is within these limits.
