What the ratings mean for fit
The 5SM2327-6: The 30 mA Type A trip covers sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC residual currents — the standard for general-purpose socket-outlet and lighting circuits in residential and commercial panels. The 100 A rated current at AC (derated to 93 A at 40 °C, 80 A at 70 °C) matches the main incoming supply for a typical distribution board; the derating curve lets you size for elevated ambient temperatures inside a sealed enclosure. Insulation voltage rated 460 V and overvoltage category III mean the device is suitable for fixed-installation downstream of the utility meter. Surge current resistance of 1 kA and surge voltage resistance of 4 kV give it a solid margin for transient events on the mains.
Where it's used
This RCD mounts on a DIN rail inside a distribution board. The IP20 rating applies only when the board is installed and conductors are connected — it is not a standalone outdoor device. The top-or-bottom feed position gives flexibility in panel layout.
