The short-time delayed design (selective / S-type) lets it ride out brief inrush or leakage spikes that would nuisance-trip a standard RCD, so it's a good fit for feeder circuits feeding multiple sub-panels or equipment with known start-up leakage. The operating frequency range is 50/60 Hz, so it's fine on either mains standard.
