The Siemens SENTRON 5SM3314-0FB is a 2-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated for AC-type fault currents at 230 V, 40 A continuous at 40 °C, with a short-circuit current rating of 10 kA per IEC 61008-1.
At higher ambient temperatures the rated value derates per the datasheet curve: 38.4 A at 50 °C, 36.8 A at 55 °C, and down to 32 A at 70 °C. The 10 kA SCCR (IEC 61008-1) is the maximum prospective fault current the device can safely interrupt. The same device is also rated 0.5 kA per EN 60898 — that standard uses a different test sequence (lower I²t let-through), so the 10 kA figure governs for IEC 61008-1 installations. For coordination, verify the upstream protective device's let-through energy stays within the 70 000 A²·s permissible I²t value. The 2-pole, 230 V AC rating means it switches both line and neutral on a single-phase supply. The supply connection can enter from the top or bottom — no mandatory orientation. Finger- and back-of-hand safe terminals (IP20 with distribution board installed) allow safe handling during commissioning.
