The Siemens 5SM3414-6 is a 2-pole SENTRON residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated 40 A at 230 V AC, 50 Hz, with a Type A fault-current characteristic and a 10 kA short-circuit current rating. Type A means it detects sinusoidal AC residual currents plus pulsating DC residual currents — the standard choice for circuits with single-phase rectifiers, switched-mode power supplies, or electronic loads that generate pulsed DC fault currents.
Depth is 70 mm, so it sits flush with standard distribution-board enclosures. Supply can enter from top or bottom, which simplifies panel layout when busbars run either way. IP20 with conductors connected and the distribution board installed; that's the usual protection class for enclosed panel gear — no special washdown or outdoor sealing.
Rated 40 A continuous at both 40 °C and 45 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 37.6 A at 50 °C, 35.2 A at 55 °C, 32.8 A at 60 °C, 30.4 A at 65 °C, and 28 A at 70 °C. If your panel internal ambient runs hot — say above 45 °C — the actual continuous current the RCCB can carry without nuisance tripping is lower than the nameplate 40 A.
