The 5SM3612-0: The 300 mA residual-current sensitivity makes it suitable for general fault protection (not personal shock protection, which needs 30 mA) — it catches insulation faults and equipment leakage in circuits feeding motors, heaters, or distribution sub-panels where nuisance tripping at 30 mA would be a problem. If the downstream load includes VFDs, rectifiers, or switched-mode supplies that can generate DC fault components, an A-type or B-type RCCB would be the correct choice.
Thermal derating and enclosure reality
The 5SM3612-0 carries its full 25 A up to 45 °C ambient inside the distribution board. At 50 °C it derates to 24 A, at 60 °C to 22 A, and at 70 °C to 20 A. In a cement plant control room or a hot MCC, that derating curve is what governs the real circuit load, not the nameplate 25 A. Storage and transport range is -40 to +75 °C, so the part survives the ride through unheated warehouses and truck beds. Operating ambient for the enclosure is -5 to +45 °C; the derating table above covers the higher end. The 70 mm depth (installation depth 70 mm) fits standard distribution boards and sub-distribution panels.
