The Siemens SENTRON 5SM3612-0MJ20 is a 2-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated 25 A at 230 V AC, 50 Hz, with a 300 mA trip threshold and 10 kA short-circuit current rating. That's fine for general-purpose circuits feeding resistive or inductive loads like heaters, contactors, and small motors, but not for drives, UPS, or rectified loads where pulsating DC leakage would go undetected.
The 300 mA trip is a fire-protection threshold, not a personnel-protection level (that's 30 mA). You'd spec this on submain or feeder circuits where the leakage from multiple loads sums above 30 mA but below 300 mA — think lighting banks, distribution boards feeding socket outlets, or fixed equipment with high capacitive leakage. Conductor range accepts 1 to 16 mm² solid or stranded, so it'll take anything from a 1.5 mm² control wire up to a 16 mm² main feed. Mounts on DIN rail (REG profile), occupies 2 width units (about 36 mm), and can be installed in any orientation.
If the panel sits in a non-conditioned space that hits 50 °C in summer, you'll need to derate — but Siemens doesn't publish a derating curve for this RCCB, so keep it within the -5 to +45 °C band for full rated current.
