What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SM3617-0KL is a 2-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) designed for AC fault-current detection. It carries an 80 A rated current and trips at 300 mA residual current, with a rated supply voltage of 230 V AC. The instantaneous design means it responds to fault currents without intentional delay, making it suitable for general-purpose shock protection in residential and commercial distribution boards.
Mounting and integration
Mounts on DIN rail (REG) and occupies 2.5 width units (about 45 mm). Installation depth is 70 mm. The mounting position is any, and the supply connection can be top or bottom. The screw terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 1.5 to 25 mm², with a tightening torque of 2.5 to 3 N·m. The IP20 rating applies when installed in a distribution board with connected conductors.
