It is rated at 25 A (In) with a 300 mA residual operating current (IΔn) on a 400 V AC supply. The type B characteristic means it detects AC, pulsating DC, and smooth DC fault currents up to 1 kHz — essential for circuits with variable-speed drives, UPS systems, or PV inverters that can generate DC fault components a standard AC/type A RCCB would miss.
Selectivity and coordination
The short-time delay (S-type characteristic) provides selectivity with downstream RCCBs. In a distribution board, a fault on a sub-circuit trips the downstream device first, leaving the 5SM3642-4BG closed and maintaining supply to healthy circuits. This is the standard approach for main-switch or feeder RCCB positions in TN and TT systems.
