RCCB for 63 A branch circuits — Type A, instantaneous trip
The Siemens SENTRON 5SM3656-6 is a 4-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated 63 A at 500 V AC, with a 10 kA short-circuit current rating. It detects Type A fault currents — sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC — and trips instantaneously (no short-time delay). Per the datasheet, the I²t withstand is 70 000 A²·s, and surge current resistance is rated 1 kA. Mounts on DIN rail (REG profile), occupies 4 width units (36 mm), and accepts top or bottom supply feed. The housing is IP20 with conductors connected — suitable for enclosed distribution boards. Installation depth is 70 mm.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Full 63 A rating holds at 40 °C and 45 °C. At 50 °C the rating drops to 60.48 A, at 55 °C to 57.96 A, at 60 °C to 55.44 A, at 65 °C to 52.92 A, and at 70 °C to 50.4 A. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 45 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 75 °C. Mounting position is any orientation.
Panel integration notes
DIN-rail snap-on, 36 mm width (4 TE). Depth of 70 mm fits standard enclosures with clearance for gland plates. Silicon-free construction per the product feature. Finger and back-of-hand safe protection against electrical shock.
