What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SN6163-7CN is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker with a C-curve trip characteristic, rated 63 A at 400 V AC, 50/60 Hz. Its 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers most residential and light commercial distribution boards. The C-curve means it trips between 5 and 10 times rated current — standard for general-purpose loads like lighting, socket circuits, and small appliances where inrush isn't extreme.
Panel fit and integration
Occupies a single 18 mm modular width unit (1 MW) on standard DIN rail. Depth of 76 mm and 70 mm installation depth mean it clears most shallow enclosures. Mounting position is any — no derating for horizontal or inverted orientation. IP20 with connected conductors is typical for enclosed distribution boards; touch protection is built in.
Wiring and accessories
Accepts solid conductors up to 25 mm² — generous for a 63 A breaker, allowing easy termination of larger feed cables. Power loss is 5 W per pole at rated current in hot state, which matters for thermal coordination inside a crowded enclosure. Sealable design supports lockout/tagout procedures. Supplementary devices (auxiliary contacts, shunt trips, alarm switches) can be added via the product extension feature.
