The Siemens SENTRON 5SP4180-8 is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping characteristic, rated 80 A at 400 V AC and a 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898.
The D characteristic's magnetic trip threshold is 10 to 20 times In (800 to 1600 A), so it holds through a motor's locked-rotor surge but opens on a bolted fault. The 1.5 modular width units (27 mm wide) take up one and a half standard DIN-rail spaces; check your enclosure's busbar pitch if you're retrofitting into an existing distribution block.
Rated for -40 °C to 75 °C ambient, so it works in unheated warehouses or hot cabinet summers. The 10 000 mechanical operating cycles cover years of occasional switching — not a daily disconnect switch, but fine for a feeder breaker. Shock resistance of 150 m/s² at 11 ms half-sine and vibration resistance of 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz mean it survives shipping and machine vibration without false trips.
