What this 100 A 4P B-curve MCB does in a panel
The Siemens SENTRON 5SP4491-6 is a 4-pole miniature circuit breaker with B tripping characteristic, rated 100 A at 400 V AC and a breaking capacity of 10 kA per EN 60898. At 100 A per pole and 4 poles ganged, this covers a 400 V three-phase feeder or a large single-phase subfeed where you need coordinated overcurrent protection on all conductors.
Fastens by DIN rail (standard top-hat rail per EN 60715) or screw fixing. Terminal tunnels at top and bottom accept copper conductors — strip length and torque per the manufacturer's installation instructions. The 6 MW width (108 mm,) occupies six 18 mm module spaces on the DIN rail. Rated IP20 with connected conductors, IP40 in the handle area with the distribution cover fitted.
Environmental and material compliance
Degree of pollution 3 and overvoltage category 3 per IEC 60947-1, meaning it's suitable for fixed industrial installations where transient overvoltages are controlled by upstream SPDs. Shock resistance 150 m/s² at 11 ms half-sine and vibration resistance 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz, 60 m/s² at 35 Hz for 4 s per IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-6 — suitable for installation on machinery or in transport-adjacent panels.
