What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SU1324-1RC32 is a 2-pole RCBO — a combined residual-current device and miniature circuit breaker in one 4-module-wide unit. It's rated 32 A with a C tripping characteristic, meaning it handles moderate inrush from motor or lighting loads without nuisance trips, and it protects against earth faults at 30 mA (Type AC, for sinusoidal AC fault currents). Breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898 and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2 — that's the fault current it can safely interrupt without welding contacts or exploding the case. The 15 kA rating under 60947-2 gives you headroom for industrial panel coordination where fault levels run higher than residential service. Rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 440 V AC, overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2 — standard for fixed-installation distribution boards in commercial and light industrial buildings. Operating frequency is 50 Hz only; this is not a 60 Hz part.
Panel fit and mounting
Occupies 4 modular width units (72 mm) on a DIN rail. Depth is 70 mm, height 90 mm. Mounting position is any — vertical, horizontal, upside down — no derating needed for orientation. Supply can enter from top or bottom, which simplifies busbar routing in a crowded enclosure. IP20 rating applies only when installed in a distribution board with conductors connected — it's not a standalone outdoor device. Ambient temperature range is -40 °C to 75 °C, with max 95% humidity. The wide cold-end makes it viable for unheated utility rooms or outdoor-rated enclosures in northern climates.
