What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SU1324-7KX13 is a 2-pole RCBO (residual current breaker with overcurrent protection) from the SENTRON family, combining a 13 A overcurrent trip (characteristic C) with a 30 mA residual-current device, Type A. It protects against both overload/short-circuit and earth leakage in a single modular unit. Rated breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898 — enough for most residential and light commercial sub-distribution boards where the prospective short-circuit current stays under that threshold. The 30 mA trip sensitivity covers basic additional protection against direct contact and fire risk from earth faults.
Thermal derating and installation
The 13 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient. At 40 °C it derates to 12.48 A, at 50 °C to 11.96 A, and at 70 °C to 10.01 A. If the panel runs warm — say above 40 °C — size the upstream protective device and the connected load against the derated figure, not the nominal 13 A. Occupies 3 modular width units (54 mm) on a DIN rail. Depth is 77 mm; installation depth 70 mm. Mounting position is unrestricted — any orientation works. Supply can enter from top or bottom. The housing is IP20 once installed in a distribution board with conductors connected.
