What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SU1353-1GV10 is a 2-pole (1P+N) RCBO — a combined residual-current device and miniature circuit breaker in one 36 mm-wide unit. It protects a single-phase AC circuit against both overload/short-circuit (C-curve, 10 A at 30 °C) and earth leakage (AC type fault current, instantaneous trip). The breaking capacity is 4.5 kA per EN 60898, suitable for standard domestic and light commercial distribution boards. Rated at 230/240 V AC, 50 Hz, the unit occupies 2 width units on a DIN rail (36 mm wide, 77 mm deep, 90 mm tall). The C-curve characteristic (tripping between 5 and 10 times rated current) handles moderate inrush from motor or lighting loads without nuisance trips.
Ratings and derating
The 10 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient; derate to 9.5 A at 40 °C, 9 A at 50 °C, and 8 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 40 °C, the effective continuous current is 9.5 A — factor that into load planning. The IP20 rating applies only when the distribution board is installed with connected conductors — the RCBO itself is not sealed for wet or dusty environments. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction suits installations with sensitive equipment or low-smoke cabling requirements.
