It protects a 1P+N single-phase circuit against overload, short-circuit, and earth leakage. The C-curve tripping characteristic means it holds up to 5–10× the rated current for short periods, which suits motor or lighting loads with moderate inrush. Rated 40 A at 30 °C ambient, with a 4.5 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and 10 kA per IEC 60947-2, it covers standard residential and light commercial distribution boards.
Thermal derating and mounting flexibility
The 40 A rating is at 30 °C; at 40 °C it derates to 37.6 A, at 50 °C to 34.8 A, and at 70 °C to 29.2 A. The IP20 rating applies once installed with conductors connected, so the device itself is touch-safe inside a closed distribution board.
