What it is and what it does
The 5SU1353-1WM13: Rated breaking capacity is 4.5 kA per EN 60898 and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2, giving the buyer two compliance paths: the lower figure for residential distribution boards, the higher for industrial panel coordination where SCCR headroom matters. The 15 kA rating under IEC 60947-2 means this RCBO can interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading, which simplifies selectivity studies in a 400 V industrial panel. The residual-current element is Type AC — sensitive to sinusoidal AC fault currents only. That covers the majority of standard socket-outlet and lighting circuits; for pulsed or smooth DC fault currents (e.g. from VFDs or EV chargers), a Type A or Type B device would be needed.
Installation and integration
Mounts on DIN rail in any position. Installation depth is 70 mm. Occupies 2 MW width. Terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 35 mm². Tightening torque is 2.5 to 3 N·m with screw-type terminals. IP20 protection applies when installed in a distribution board with connected conductors — the device itself is not rated for wet or dusty environments. Touch protection is built in. Power dissipation is 4.4 W maximum — relevant for thermal derating in a crowded enclosure. Ambient temperature range is -25 to +55 °C operating, -40 to +75 °C storage. The device is halogen-free and silicon-free, meeting clean-room or low-corrosion requirements.
