What this RCBO is and what it does
The Siemens 5SU1353-7KL16 is a 1P+N RCBO (residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection) from the SENTRON 5SU1 series. It combines ground-fault and overcurrent protection in a single 36 mm-wide (2 MW) module, rated 16 A with a C tripping characteristic and 4.5 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898. The Type A design detects both sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC fault currents, which covers most modern electronic loads — switching power supplies, variable-speed drives, and appliance rectifiers that can generate pulsating DC leakage.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The 16 A rating at 30 °C is the base; it derates to 12.32 A at 70 °C, so if this RCBO sits in a crowded, hot enclosure, you need to account for that thermal curve — the 16 A label doesn't hold at elevated ambient. The 4.5 kA breaking capacity is the maximum fault current it can safely interrupt under EN 60898; for installations with higher prospective short-circuit current, you'd need an upstream backup fuse or a higher-rated device. The 77 mm depth plus 70 mm installation depth means it fits standard 18 mm-module distribution boards — no special enclosure needed. Conductor range 0.75 to 35 mm² solid or stranded covers everything from control wiring to main feeders, so you won't need reducers or adapters for mixed-gauge terminations.
