What this RCBO delivers in the panel
The Siemens 5SU1354-6FM16 is a 2-pole 1P+N residual current operated circuit breaker (RCBO) from the SENTRON 5SU1 family, rated 16 A with a 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898. The Type A fault-current detection handles pulsating DC and AC residual currents — the standard choice for single-phase loads with electronic rectifiers (washing machines, LED drivers, VFD-fed pumps). The B curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current, so it clears moderate inrush without nuisance tripping on resistive or lightly inductive circuits. Mounts on DIN rail, occupies 2 width units (36 mm), and accepts conductors from 0.75 to 35 mm² solid or stranded — enough for the incoming feed and through-wiring in a distribution board. Installation depth is 70 mm; overall depth is 77 mm including the front projection. Supply can enter from top or bottom, which simplifies panel layout when busbars run on either side.
Thermal derating — the real current rating changes with ambient
The 16 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient. At 40 °C it derates to 15.2 A, at 50 °C to 14.4 A, and at 60 °C to 13.6 A. By 70 °C the continuous current drops to 12.32 A. If this RCBO sits in a crowded enclosure with multiple devices dissipating heat, size the branch circuit for the derated figure at the expected internal temperature — not the 16 A nameplate.
Panel integration notes
Rated IP20 once installed in a distribution board with conductors connected — standard for enclosed panel use, not for wet or dust-exposed locations. Ambient operating range is -25 to +55 °C; storage range extends to -40 to +75 °C. Mounting position is unrestricted, so it can sit sideways or upside-down in a tight enclosure without affecting the trip performance. Overvoltage category III suits fixed-installation downstream of the utility meter.
