Siemens 5SU1354-7GV06 RCBO — 6 A, Type A, C Curve
The Siemens 5SU1354-7GV06 is a SENTRON RCBO combining overcurrent and residual current protection in a 2-pole 1P+N package. Rated 6 A at AC with a C tripping characteristic, it handles moderate inrush from lighting or small motor loads. The Type A fault-current detection catches pulsating DC and sinusoidal AC earth faults — common in single-phase rectifier circuits or VFD-fed equipment. Breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898 for domestic-style coordination, and 35 kA per IEC 60947-2 for industrial panel duty; that 35 kA rating means it can interrupt a high-fault bolted short without upstream fuses needing to clear first, which simplifies selectivity in a distribution board.
Thermal derating and conductor sizing
The 6 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient. Above that, the thermal-magnetic trip derates: 5.7 A at 40 °C, 5.4 A at 50 °C, 5.1 A at 60 °C, and 4.62 A at 70 °C. If the panel runs warm — say 50 °C inside a sealed enclosure — the effective continuous current drops to 5.4 A, which matters when sizing the downstream load. The terminals accept 0.75 mm² to 25 mm² solid or stranded copper, so it lands on standard 2.5 mm² lighting circuits or 4 mm² small-power feeds without adapters.
Mounting and integration
The 5SU1354-7GV06 snaps onto a DIN rail (2 width units, 36 mm wide) and fits any mounting position — horizontal, vertical, upside down — with an installation depth of 70 mm and overall depth of 77 mm. The supply cord can enter from the top or bottom, which simplifies busbar routing in a crowded distribution board. Touch protection is built in, so live terminals are shielded when the front cover is closed. IP20 applies once the distribution board is installed and conductors are connected; the device itself is not rated for wet or dusty environments.
