What this RCBO is and what it protects
The Siemens 5SU1356-6GV06 is a combined residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO) from the SENTRON family, rated 6 A at 30 °C with a B-curve tripping characteristic and Type A residual current detection. Type A detection means it responds to sinusoidal AC residual currents and pulsating DC residual currents up to 6 mA smooth DC — the standard choice for circuits with single-phase rectifiers, switched-mode power supplies, or electronic loads that produce pulsed fault currents. The B-curve overcurrent trip (3.2 to 5 times In) protects against short-circuit and overload in resistive or lightly inductive circuits — typical for lighting, socket outlets, and small control transformers where inrush is modest.
Breaking capacity and dual standard rating
Rated short-circuit capacity is 6 kA per EN 60898 (the domestic / light commercial standard) and 25 kA per IEC 60947-2 (the industrial standard) — the higher figure applies when the RCBO is backed by a current-limiting upstream device or installed in an industrial distribution board with higher prospective fault current.
Temperature derating — don't ignore it
The 6 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient. At 40 °C it derates to 5.7 A, at 50 °C to 5.4 A, and at 70 °C to 4.62 A — if this RCBO sits in a crowded enclosure near other heat sources, size the load against the derated figure, not the 30 °C nameplate.
Mounting and panel fit
Occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm) on a DIN rail, with a depth of 77 mm and an installation depth of 70 mm behind the panel face. Mounting position is unrestricted — vertical, horizontal, or inverted — and supply can enter from either top or bottom.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
Listed as current production. Sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution.
